What parts of the country do you install?2014-07-24T15:33:30+00:00

We aim to cover the whole of the UK, just call us to confirm.

Do I need a good internet connection for the system to work?2017-05-19T15:02:26+00:00

No internet connection is required for the camera to work within your farm. An internet connection is only required if you want to watch the cameras remotely (whilst you are out shopping or on holiday). In most cases the internet connection that you find on farms we find is suitable, but if remote viewing is critical to you we will ensure that your connection is good enough as part of our survey.

Do I need to put signs up?2014-07-24T17:05:18+00:00

Yes as a business operating a small CCTV system you will not only need to erect warning signs but also register with the Information Commissioners Office and comply with their code of practise. In reality the steps required are straight forward and we can help and advise you on this.

What exactly is a farm alarm system?2014-07-24T16:33:58+00:00

Our farm alarm systems work in a similar way to a modern house alarm but they have been fine tuned to work well on farms. For example, everything is waterproof and dust proof, the sensors are selected to ensure that, even though they are often situated outside, false alarms are kept to the absolute minimum. On top of that the alarm reports to your mobile phone through which you can fully control it. (turn it on & off, see the alarm status, check logs etc).

Is the night vision good enough for calving?2017-05-19T15:02:26+00:00

Our cameras have excellent night visions – you can check out our demo videos here. All of our customers so far have been impressed by the clarity and feel that it is good enough for night time calving.

Can I install the system myself?2014-07-24T16:34:30+00:00

We are currently working on both a DIY and an assisted installation service. Call us for more information.

Are you cameras hard wired or wireless?2014-07-24T16:59:11+00:00

Our cameras are hard wired from their mounting position to a control unit which in turn is connected to a wireless transmitter that beams the pictures to your house or office.

How long do the cameras record for?2014-07-24T17:05:27+00:00

With network cameras this can depend on a number of factors including the size of the installed hard drive, the number of frames per second or even how busy the scene is that the camera is recording. However, we usually aim for a minimum of 14 days but typically achieve 30 days recording.

Why do you think an alarm is the best security tool for farms?2014-07-24T16:33:51+00:00

Alarms are often overlooked in favour of CCTV systems. However a CCTV system on its own will only show you what happened long after your property has been lost. With an alarm system you get the opportunity to take action as the crime is happening (investigate yourself or call the police) whilst the bells will hopefully scare the criminals away. The ultimate is to combine a decent alarm system with ANY sort of CCTV system that you can watch in real time so you will be able to tell if the activity shown is criminal or not.

Do I need a microphone?2014-07-24T17:03:58+00:00

Our customers say this is one of the most useful features of our system. Being experienced stockmen they can often tell from the sound a beast makes if they need to head down and give a helping hand. Additionally, it can give peace of mind to those at home that they can hear if you are in trouble with a difficult calving.

How far can the wireless link go?2014-07-24T16:59:45+00:00

If you have a clear line of sight, with no trees or obstacles in the way, our links can be as far as 3km apart. For shorter distances, 0-100m these obstacles are rarely a problem. However, in cases where obstacles are a problem we can often find alternative solutions. Either way we ensure that the link will work as part of our service.

How are the cameras and the alarm system connected to each other?2014-07-24T17:06:44+00:00

They aren’t – it is just how you use them that is connected. If the alarm goes off that prompts you to check your cameras.

What’s the night vision like?2014-07-24T17:05:36+00:00

Night vision is always overstated by camera manufacturers. Our cameras state 20-30m night vision. However this has usually been measured in the best possible circumstances not those you find on a pitch black farm. Usually the cameras WILL be adequate at night but we always advise that additional lighting may be required. We find that the sodium ‘street light’ style lighting works really well with the cameras.

I had an analogue system in the past the wireless link kept dropping out, will yours keep losing connection?2014-07-24T16:59:59+00:00

No, modern digital wireless connections are far more reliable than the older analogue connections. Wireless connection drop out has not been something any of our customers have complained about. Also our cameras produce pictures which are MUCH clearer than what you will have been used to with the analogue system.

Should I get a camera system or an alarm system?2014-07-24T16:33:39+00:00

If you can’t get both we generally recommend that by moving your at risk property into one place and then use an alarm system over a camera system to protect it.

Do you do a cheaper fixed camera?2014-07-24T17:03:48+00:00

Yes we do but in most cases a PTZ camera offers such a good improvement over a fixed camera that most people will pay the extra, however, for small installs a fixed camera may be more appropriate. Feel free to call us and find out the pro’s and cons of each type of camera.

Are there any ongoing costs?2014-07-24T17:05:56+00:00

NO. We would, however, recommend an annual service.

Won’t I be annoyed by text messages all the time?2017-05-19T15:02:26+00:00

Our systems have been put together to allow full control. You can either wait until work has finished to turn the alarm on via a simple text message or button on an app. Or schedule the alarm to turn on and off according to your farm’s working practices. Additionally, we have chosen the best sensors, so false alarms are kept to an absolute minimum (Ideally none!)

Do the cameras work off my TV?2017-05-19T15:02:26+00:00

They can be made to work off your TV but as any computer, smart phone or tablet can be used to access and view the cameras none of our customers have found this necessary. This means that unlike older systems you are not tied to just one fixed monitor or television. You can take your the device you are using anywhere in the house with you, so you could monitor your livestock whilst having your dinner, having a bath or even in bed! That said we can still provide a fixed monitor if that is required.

Are there any ongoing costs?2014-07-24T17:04:21+00:00

NO, however, we would recommend an annual service.

What phones / tablets / computers do your cameras work with?2017-05-19T15:02:26+00:00

Our systems will work well with Android and Apple Phones and tablets. Windows phone support has recently been added and we are currently assessing these phones.   They do not work well with Blackberry phones. In terms of computers either Macs or Windows give great results.

Are there any ongoing costs?2014-07-24T16:33:01+00:00

Most of our systems are either text message controlled OR at least backed up by mobile SIM card. So the only on going costs are the text messages that the system sends, how much depends upon how you use your system but typically costs can be kept to well below £5 per month. Additionally it would be advisable to service the system on an annual basis.

Do I need any special power in the calving shed?2014-07-24T17:03:37+00:00

We need a 240v socket within about a 50m cable length of the calving/lambing shed. This could be in a barn attached to the calving area and does not necessarily have to be in the actual calving area.

Why should I use you and not just get a DIY system from the internet?2014-07-24T17:01:39+00:00

One of the main benefits of using our system is that for just a little more than a DIY option you will have a guaranteed headache free install. With great cameras, that we know work well on farms, installed following industry best practises, alongside a 2 yr manufacturer’s warranty, 12 months FULL support and product life time technical remote support, you can be sure they WILL continue to work! (DIY cameras whilst often waterproof are not usually supplied with adequately protected components such as power supplies and most do not come with all of the features that our cameras offer as standard). Often you are paying more – for less.

Why should I use you and not just get a DIY system from the internet?2014-07-24T16:32:38+00:00

Yes that of course is possible. However, home alarms have sensors that will not last long with the dust, moisture and pests (spiders, birds, rats) that are found on a farm. Even if the system works well for the first few months it is almost certain that false alarms will start to occur. If even one sensor starts playing up it can make the whole system useless, as you will naturally start to ignore it. Yes if you are protecting a single ‘clean’ area this may be an option but DIY alarms rarely come with the level of control our alarm offers. With us you are purchasing a headache free install. We have chosen a great system, that we know WILL work well on farms, we install the sensors in the best positions and work through any false alarm issues. On top of that our equipment comes with 2 years manufacturer’s warranty and 12 months FULL onsite support and product lifetime telephone support all included within the cost.

The WiFi within my house is rubbish, does that matter?2014-07-24T17:02:28+00:00

There are ways to boost your WiFi signal which we would help you do as part of the install.

I don’t have a mobile phone signal on my farm will it still work?2014-07-24T16:31:35+00:00

Yes we can add a card that will allow the alarm panel to communicate with you via the internet.

What kind of sensors can I add to the system?2014-07-24T16:31:09+00:00

Passive Infrared motion sensors, buried probe vehicle sensors, Door/Gate contacts, smoke sensors are standard however but we can adapt the system to respond to everything from temperature to flooding.

I don’t have that much cash what can I do that won’t cost that much?2014-07-24T16:35:45+00:00

We also supply yard alarms that ‘Ding Dong’ in your house if anyone comes on your farm. These can be as cheap as £170.00.
